Opening up a new chapter for its future range of supercars, Lamborghini has signed an agreement with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The strategic partnership with the institute's MIT-Italy Program will allow Lamborghini engineers and students and staff from MIT to compare notes and collaborate on numerous cutting-edge research projects, particularly focused on new materials in the automotive world.

Lamborghini says that the partnership will pave the way for a brand new “super sports car ready for the challenges of the third millennium”.

Discussing the deal, chairman and chief executive officer of Automobili Lamborghini, Stefano Domenicali said “We want people to think of us more and more as a trendsetter in the super luxury and sports car segment. MIT has always been a pioneer in innovation and we are proud to have signed this general agreement with such an illustrious institution, which will lead to the study of issues of mutual interest relating to the super sports car for the 3rd millennium".

Serenella Sferza, the co-director of the MIT-Italy Program added to this by saying “MIT-Italy is a two way bridge linking MIT and Outstanding Names in Italian Industry. It is hard for us to imagine a better partner than Lamborghini, and we are looking forward to the projects that this partnership will help us develop".
