Following its official introduction from last month, China’s Buick GL8 is now up for grabs. Launched on the local market this weekend, the MPV can be had in five flavors, priced between RMB 289,900 and RMB 449,900 ($42,870-$66,530

Depending on the specified version, the GM-owned brand can add leather seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions, OnStar 4G LTE, the latest IntelliLink infotainment system with smartphone display mirroring and natural voice recognition, ambient lighting, panoramic roof, Bose surround sound system, and an Air Quality System.

These add up to the advanced safety technologies that include Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, Automatic Vehicle Hold, Fading Brake Support, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist, Collision Mitigation Braking, Side Blind Zone Alert, Automatic Park Assist, Tire Pressure Monitoring, Electric Parking Brake, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Reverse Radar.

Buick’s latest GL8 is powered by a 2.0-liter SIDI engine, rated at 300 PS (256 HP) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, which is paired to a six-speed DSS transmission, with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters and start/stop technology. The multi-purpose vehicle can accelerate from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 9.3 seconds and can achieve a combined fuel consumption of 8.9 lt/100 km (26.43 mpg US).

Serving as the range-topping model of the car, the GL8 Avenir is also available for order in China, with its slightly modded exterior finished in Earl Purple, and 18-inch crown-like wheels. Inside, it has been specified with plush carpet, 18 optional colors for the interior lighting, special logos, suede roof and leather seats.
