You’ve probably heard the one about Superman wearing his undies above his clothes, but this real-time hero in Brisbane, Australia chased after a guy in nothing but his underwear!

As reported by BBC, it all happened at around 2 AM last Thursday, when Daniel McConnell was alerted by his wife about someone crashing into a neighboring fish and chip shop that’s run by his friend’s mother for 40 years.

“I come outside in me jocks, and I’ve seen old mate… and I said, ‘oi, what are you doing there mate, you gotta wait here,’ and he’s like, ‘nah, nah, I fell asleep behind the wheel,'” McConnell told Australia’s Nine Network.

“And I’m like, ‘yeah right-o mate, well you still don’t be fleeing the scene’,” he continued, “and he goes, ‘don’t be a hero mate’.”

McConnell says he didn’t want to be a hero – he just run back home and grabbed the keys to his car so he could go after the runaway driver. He eventually managed to stop him. Moreover, he directed the police to Williams Avenue, where they arrested and charged the 35-year old runaway driver with one count of unlicensed driving.

Even though he’s made the news big time, McConnell is not playing into his new-found hero status: “It’s just the community, mate. Everyone looks after everyone in small old Hendra,” he deadpanned.
