Honda is preparing to lift production of its larger vehicles at its Alabama plant to respond to increasing demand.

Automotive News reports that the company’s Alabama plant will be dedicated to producing the Pilot, Ridgeline and Odyssey in increased numbers from early next year. Furthermore, Honda will shift a portion of CR-V production to its Indiana facility from Mexico and increase production of the HR-V subcompact in Mexico.

Speaking to reporters recently, American Honda Motor Co. chief executive Toshiaki Mikoshiba said that automaker will increase production of its light trucks.

According to Mikoshiba, “While maintaining our current overall capacity (in North America), we’d like to also consider our production options in Japan … to produce more light trucks to respond to strong demand. So long as we don’t see a sudden reversal in gasoline prices, we believe this would be the right move for the market”.
