You don’t see a Peugeot 205 T16 every day, especially a racing variant, that’s why someone decided to build one from the ground up.

Being part of the Group B rally legends makes the mid-engine Peugeot cost an arm and a leg, so getting a production spec variant on your driveway can be hard; even downright impossible if we’re talking about one that actually competed.

But somebody with a passion for the model, and for rallying, has created one out of another rally superstar. On the outside, this Pug looks like the real deal, but underneath lies the underpinning of a Mitsubishi EVO VI, with some VIII components sprinkled on top. Authentic it is not, but there’s a certain appeal in combining modern day reliability with old-school looks.

The car was converted in 2015 and has been used on various occasions, including track days, sprints, hill climbs, historic time attack, and so on. It’s even been signed by multiple World Rally Champion Juha Kankkunen, who actually drove the original. Powering the tribute is an EVO 8 engine, mated to a dog-leg gearbox and accompanied by an anti-lag system, that sends 400 hp to all four wheels. Considering that it sports Kevlar body panels, that should make very fast.

The car is for sale on eBay for £55,000 ($66,882).
