Ford Confirms 2017 F-150s Are At Dealers Despite Delay Reports

Ford has confirmed that dealer deliveries of the 2017 F-150 pickup have commenced, despite reports to the contrary.

Yesterday, Reuters reported that shipments of the F-150 had been delayed to allow Ford to conduct additional testing on the model’s 10-speed automatic transmission. However since then, Ford spokesman Mike Levine has revealed that such information is incorrect and that multiple dealerships across the U.S. indeed have new F-150 and Raptor models in stock.

The 2017 model’s 10-speed automatic transmission was co-developed with General Motors and is found in the 2017 Camaro ZL1. It will also be used by a number of additional Ford models going forward and no less than eight more GM models before the end of 2018.

Whereas the Camaro mates it to an all-conquering V8, the F-150 has it coupled with the firm’s EcoBoost 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. In Raptor guise, this powertrain delivers 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque, 39 hp and 76 lb-ft more than the previous raptor.

Prices for the F-150 start at $26,540 with the 3.5-liter V6. For those looking at the hardcore Raptor, they’ll have to hand over at least $48,325.
