Remember that video from July of a skateboarder smashing a McLaren 12C’s windshield in a hidden publicity stunt? Well there is another fake video of a sports car’s windshield being smashed making the rounds, albeit this time it involves a BMW i8.

A video of the incident was original published on the Twitter page of YouTuber Coby Persin, who claimed that he and a friend were doing a photoshoot at the time of the attack in New York City. On first appearances, that is exactly what appears to be happening.

However, towards the end of the video and with furious drivers expressing their displeasure at the gold chrome i8 parked in the middle of the street, a man can be seen approaching the sports car from behind with a baseball bat. As if by magic, Persin turns around just in time and casually watches on as the man smashes his i8’s expensive windshield.

There’s no doubt that the damage is real, but as Jalopnik points out, Persin is known for making prank and social experiment videos on his YouTube channel and this could be just another one of these.
