Just yesterday, Lucid Motors unveiled its first EV aptly dubbed the Air and incorporating a slew of impressive technologies in an even more impressive design.

Although select members of the press have only been able to experience pre-production prototypes, the Air has everything going for it, including a set of rather cool headlights.

As the GIF above shows, Lucid’s initial show car has been engineered to feature headlights unlike any other we’ve seen before. Rather than a single headlight, the Air uses 10 small lights protected by glass on each side all lined up in a horizontal row. Alone these headlights give the model an incredibly sleek front end and have their own nifty little trick.

Each of the little bulbs can be opened or closed, essentially disappearing when not needed, swivelling around in a rather poetic motion.

Lucid doesn’t intend of launching the Air until 2018 and at this stage, it isn’t known how similar the production-spec model will be to this prototype.

Nonetheless, we have our fingers crossed these lights will make their way to the production line, even if they may be prone to malfunction.

H/T to Jalopnik!
