A horrific accident took place on Singapore’s Ayer Rajah Expressway this morning, when the driver of a silver Mercedes allegedly performed an illegal U-turn and went against the traffic flow, causing multiple accidents that resulted in one man losing his life.

According to The Independent, the 53-year old driver of the W212 E-Class has been arrested for “causing death by a rash act”, though two men and two women, aged between 34 and 53 were also injured in the process.

In total, there were four cars, a motorcycle and a bus involved, and a police investigation is still ongoing.

The two videos below depict the moments before the crash and the aftermath, with a Mr Patrick Tan coming through with the dashcam crash footage, and a Mr Jason Tay filming the moments after, as he drove past in his vehicle.

Despite the tremendously unfortunate nature of this accident, it could have been much, much worse if that Mercedes had impacted the motorcycle differently. A direct head-on collision could have killed both the rider and his passenger, while that flying bonnet could have done some serious damage too, had it struck anybody.
