Out of the 500 units of the Chiron that will be produced over the next few years, Bugatti has managed to sell just 220, and only one of them has reached its owner, joined by the Gran Turismo Concept.

This means that 280 examples have yet to convince the planet’s rich and famous to take them home, and at more than $2.5 million each, it won’t be an easy job.

However, the company’s CEO, Wolfgang Durheimer, who has recently spoken to GTSpirit, is optimistic and says that all a customer needs, before taking the expensive decision is to just get behind the wheel, and test drives are scheduled to begin from next March.

I’m confident the customers who have not yet decided to order a Chiron, will do so when they had a chance to drive it“, Durheimer said, who refused to talk about rumors on a possible limited-run hypercar based on the Gran Turismo Concept. “The full focus is on building and delivering the Chirons for customers who have placed an order so far.

In the meantime, Bugatti have decided to increase the Chiron’s production capacity to 65 units for 2017, meaning that the waiting list currently stretches to 3 years. Delivery of the next batch of cars will commence in early 2017, as they are currently being assembled.
