If there’s one thing you could say about the Porsche 911 in general is that the way it looks is both timeless as well as iconic.

Change anything on it in a drastic manner and it would no longer be a 911. Not without its swooping rear roof line, and certainly not without the rounded front fascia with two large round headlights rising above the front lid.

In other words, round things come to mind when thinking about a 911, and to see one abandoning that aesthetic, like Porsche did with the 930 flatnose, can be a little bit strange.

So take this modded 1986 Porsche 911 Turbo as an example. It’s currently being auctioned off on Bring a Trailer, and the highest anybody has gone thus far is $25,250. Aside from its many technical modifications (we’ll get to those in a second), what stands out the most is the redesigned front end.

Not only does the car feature a slantnose conversion, it’s also got 964 bumpers and Euro-spec headlights. In other words, while the rear half of the car is easily recognizable as being from a 911, the front half kind of reminds us of the Porsche 944.

Inside, it’s got some wear on the black leather upholstery as well as on the 930S steering wheel, plus a padded roll cage covered in a carbon wrap. Other features include yellow instrument bezels and an Alpine head unit.

As for the technical mods, the ad states that approximately $100,000’s worth of changes were performed starting in 2006, including custom turbos, a Garretson intercooler, upgraded connecting rod bolts, GT3 oil pump, 930S oil cooler, and the addition of a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The car is said to have well over 600 HP, although there’s no dyno report to confirm whether that’s the case or not.
