Nope, your eyes are not deceiving you; what you are looking at is indeed a GMC Envoy perched on top of a house it crashed into in St. Louis.
Last Sunday afternoon, the speeding SUV reportedly hit an embankment and was sent flying into the house, owned by 66-year-old local Bruce Redding.
Speaking to STL Today about the unbelievable incident, Redding said that he was blessed not to be at home at the time of the crash and will be covered by insurance for the damage.
“I can see straight through my house. This is everything that I’ve worked for all my life, and for someone to run through a stop sign and destroy it …”, he said in disbelief.
Authorities who attended the scene said that firefighters were able to extract the driver from the car by using a number of ladders.
“We had accessed the roof and the structure to see if it was safe to get on the roof. It was determined that it was viable. We put just enough on the roof to make the extrication and get off,” St. Louis Fire Department deputy chief of special operations Michael Arras said.
The condition of the driver isn’t known, but he was reportedly slipping in and out of consciousness after the crash.
