Dozens of VW and Audi diesel models have been stolen from the Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan.

The abandoned football stadium has been turned into a storage ground for thousands of VW and Audi models embroiled in the dieselgate scandal.

The Detroit Free Press reports that police have discovered that up to 60 vehicles have been stolen from the facility, given false titles and sold interstate.

“They were given fake titles, Michigan titles, and that’s how they were transported out of state. And that’s how they were being sold, they had bogus titles on them,” said Indiana State Police Sgt. Jerry Goodin.

Authorities claim that initial investigations have seen 22 of the stolen vehicles recovered, 12 of which came from an auction house in Michigan.
