After launching a new version of the Kangoo Z.E. in the United Kingdom last week, Renault now has the 90PS (89hp) and 110PS (108hp) diesel versions of the van in sight, which can be had with an EDC.

EDC is Renault’s slang for ‘Efficient Dual Clutch’, a dual-clutch automatic transmission that promises to make the journey smoother, thanks to a shift time of just 290ms.

The gearbox, which suits the aforementioned versions of the 1.5-liter dCi engine, offers ‘P-R-N-D’ gearshift control, and an ‘up/down’ shift mode. It adds 28kg (62lbs) in weight over the manual version, and allows the Kangoo 90 to return 55.4 UK mpg (5.1 l/100 km / 46.1 US mpg) on the combined NEDC cycle, while emitting 136 g/km of CO2.

Already available in the diamond brand’s range of cars, the transmission comes with Hill Start Assist as standard, and features an ‘ECO’ mode, which helps improve the already-improved fuel consumption by up to 10 percent.

Renault is already taking orders for the new Kangoo EDC in the United Kingdom, which can be had from £17,395 ($23,060), without tax, in base form.
