Mercedes-AMG A45 Caught Near The Nurburgring, Should Have More Than 400 HP

The 2019 Mercedes-AMG A45 is taking shape as spy photographers have snapped the model pulling into the company’s testing center at the Nürburgring.

Dressed in heavy camouflage, the high-performance model follows in the footsteps of the standard A-Class but is distinguished by a sporty front fascia which features a Panamericana grille. The aggressive styling continues further back as the hatchback has new side skirts, a reduce ride height, and lightweight alloy wheels that are backed up by a high-performance braking system.

The rear of the car largely carries over but the AMG variant has a new rear bumper and a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system. Nothing is official but speculation suggests the production model will also receive a larger rear spoiler.

Mercedes-AMG CEO Tobias Moers hasn’t said much about the model but he previously confirmed the hatchback will come with an all-new turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces more than 402 hp (300 kW). This would be a significant increase over the current model which has 375 hp (280 kW) and 350 lb-ft (475 Nm) of torque. It allows the all-wheel drive hatchback to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.2 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h)
