Hyundai’s Facelifted Tuscon Snapped Playing In The Snow

The Hyundai Tucson was redesigned about three years ago so it comes as little surprise that the company is working on a facelifted version of the popular crossover.

Recently snapped undergoing cold weather testing, the heavily camouflaged prototype doesn’t reveal much as the crossover’s key styling details are hidden beneath extensive cladding. Despite this, we can expect the usual mid-cycle styling tweaks including updated bumpers and revised lighting units.

The interior is expected to receive a modest refreshing so drivers will likely find updated upholstery and a revised infotainment system. Hyundai recently announced plans to begin equipping its vehicles with an Intelligent Personal Agent which follows in the footsteps of Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The technology will be added to new vehicles starting in 2019 but it remains unclear if the Tucson will be one of the first models to feature the system.

There’s no word on whether or not the Tucson will be offered with new engines but the current model can be equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 164 hp (122 kW) and 151 lb-ft (204 Nm) of torque. Buyers looking for something more powerful can opt for a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder which develops 175 hp (130 kW) and 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) of torque.
