Despite the positive reception the vehicle received at the recent Geneva Motor Show, Range Rover has no intention of increasing production of the SV Coupe beyond the planned 999 units.

Speaking to Motor1 during the show, Land Rover senior product marketing manager Wayne Darley said that limiting production will help to protect the vehicle’s value.

“It’s important that we limit production at this price point to ensure exclusivity and protect these investments. It was a decision we took with Project 7 – a 250-run Jaguar F-Type that was inspired by the 1950s D-Type – and while that car sold for £130,000 (about $183,800), they are trading today for more than £200,000 ($282,700).”

The Range Rover SV Coupe is based around the SVAutobiography Dynamic and took over three years of development to bring to life. It has a starting price of $295,995, making it a casual $88,000 more expensive than the car on which it is based despite having two fewer doors and less interior space.

The cabin of the SV Coupe incorporates semi-aniline leather seats with a diamond quilt design and each unit will be built to the customer’s specifications.

Powering the two-door SUV is a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 with 565 PS, enough to rocket the huge vehicle to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5 seconds and through to a 265 km/h (165 mph) top speed.
