These days, we see law suits galore and sometimes over the most menial things. But a law suit over the letter “M” might be going over board. That was just the case in a court battle between BMW and Infiniti over the rights for “M” in a Canadian court. BMW argued that the population has come to know the “M Fleet” as a line of high-performance vehicles which enhanced the company’s image and sales, i.e. M3 and M5. If you’re at all familiar with the Infiniti M’s that recently emerged such as the M45 and the M35. However, what ticked BMW was the fact that Infiniti went on to offer an… M6 sport package for its lower-priced G35 Coupe (see pic below).

At the end of the day, the similarities made BMW quiet nervous. Infiniti was found guilty and was given a laundry list of “no-no’s” that it must abide by which don’t include the monetary damages and legal costs that are due to BMW that will be determined at a later date. We say, chill out BMW. So long as that “M” is snuggled between “B” and “W”, your still #1 in on our hearts. Via: Autoblog.comPosted by Dani
