If you’re one of those people that want BMW to get rid of their controversial design language, then these renderings of the next 5-Series, courtesy of Swedish magazine Automotorsport, will probably ring like music to your ears. Personally, I have mixed feelings about BMW’s “Bangle-era” designs. I really dig the Z3, Z4 & 5-Series models, but on the other hand, I absolutely hate the 7-Series and don’t care much about the X3, 1-Series, 3-Series sedan & 6-Series models.
Judging from BMW’s latest CS 4door-coupe concept and what insiders had to say about it, I firmly believe that the Bavarian company will fine-tweak its design language but in no way will they attempt to diminish the controversial factor out of the styling equation. Saying that, in my opinion, Autmotorsport’s artistic impression previews an elegant and sporty looking next-gen 5-Series, but way too toned down for BMW’s current design standards.
