Citroen has handed out invitations to European press members for a sneak preview of the second-generation C5, which will take place in a month’s time on October 18. If you’re wondering why the French carmaker didn’t reveal its Ford Mondeo adversary in the Frankfurt Show last week, well, beats us. Instead, Citroen previewed the C5-Airscape concept study in Frankfurt, which is a 4seater convertible based on the upcoming C5. -Continued after the jump

As with all models of the European D-Segment (mid-size), the C5 II will be available in 5door (liftback) and Break (station-wagon) variants. The C5’s public debut is expected to take place towards the end of 2007 or in early 2008, with sales kicking off in the first quarter of 2008.
