A small helicopter owned by Colin McRae came down in a wooded area near the World Rally Champion’s home in Lanarkshire, Scotland at about 4:10 p.m on Saturday killing all four passengers. The Police are still carrying out investigations but it is feared that Colin McRae and his five-year-old son were among the four passengers. “It’s believed he (Colin McRae) was on board the helicopter, however until formal identification has taken place we will not be able to confirm the identities of those on board.” It is expected that further details will be released by the Police later on the day.
Colin McRae, born in 1968 in Scotland, kicked off his career in 1986 on the local Scottish rally circuit before continuing in the World Rally Championship were he won 25 rallies, finished on the podium 42 times and in 1995 he managed to grab the WRC title becoming the first British World Champion.
