Not even a week passed after Nissan (officially) took the wraps off the all-new GT-R (video here – specs & images here) and the Japanese carmaker let out the first images of the forthcoming GT-R race car prepped for the 2008 GT500 class of Japan’s SUPER GT series. According to Nissan, the GT-R race car underwent tests at the Suzuka Circuit with NISMO’s regular drivers, Satoshi Motoyama, Michael Krumm and Tsugio Matsuda, behind the wheel.

Yoshitaka Iijima, NISMO team director for SUPER GT, said: “The test went well without any problems. We obtained positive feedback on the car’s potential from the drivers. We are aware of the NISSAN GT-R popularity and racing heritage. We will make our best effort to win the championship next year.” -Image gallery after the jump
