German luxury car maker Audi announced today that it will hire 800 college graduates this year.is That’s 200 more new hires compared with 2007. The new positions focus on the need for engineers with about one-third of the new employees to be utilized in Technical Development. Engineers specialized in electrical engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering and automotive technology are especially sought as Audi is seeking specialists for development of efficient, clean diesel engines, innovative hybrid drive solutions and alternative fuels. Audi also says that Economics graduates are needed in the areas of Marketing, After Sales and Sales.

“In the next few years we will be relying on innovative technologies as we significantly expand our product range and develop new cars. For this, we need highly qualified and motivated employees,” said Dr. Werner Widuckel, Member of the Board of Management at AUDI AG for Human Resources. “As well as producing highly appealing products, we also offer an attractive working environment with challenging activities and a wide range of opportunities to develop.” -Details on the positions after the jump

Press release – Opportunities for college graduates:

First Job Experience programAudi offers college graduates who have achieved good grades in their studies but have not yet had the time or opportunity to gain hands-on experience the chance to gain professional experience and an additional qualification during a six- to twelve-month placement with appropriate remuneration.

International trainee programDuring a twelve-month training program, trainees get to know the key interfaces within and outside AUDI AG through various projects. They work independently on three to four projects in a range of different project areas during the twelve months. One of these projects is in their target field and at least one of the others is at one of the Volkswagen Group’s international locations.

China trainee programThe China trainee program is an 18-month training program for college graduates of all disciplines and provides them with comprehensive insight into the structures and processes of AUDI AG. From the beginning, trainees work independently on projects in areas relating to China. Two of the projects thus take place at international Audi locations in China.

Direct entryDirect entrants immediately take on projects in their planned area of responsibility. Working with a mentor in their specialist area, they draw up an individual induction plan that introduces them to the key contacts within the company.

Development program for academicsThe development program for college graduates and young professionals is aimed at engineers and economists. During the tailor-made program, participants first spend one to two years working in their target field. They are then employed in interface roles for another two years, to deepen their knowledge of the process chain. After approx. 48 months, they have become experts with interdisciplinary knowledge and can take on responsibilities in their target field. On-the-job and off-the-job tailor-made training measures accompany this program.
