Let’s face it, the new BMW X6 SAC (Sport Activity Coupe) is a gathering of compromises: it lacks the looks and the driving dynamics of a sports car; it’s not as practical or cozy as an SUV and it comes nowhere close to delivering real off-road performance.

Then again, it has a unique design, it drives and performs better than most SUVs and last but not least, it will upgrade your status-quo in the neighborhood. The X6 is a bet that we will have to wait and see if it actually pays off for BMW.

Now, we’re hearing rumors that BMW is thinking of expanding its line-up with an additional SAC model, the smaller X4 that will be based on the next generation X3 platform. German car magazine Auto-Zeitung has even come up with a rendering of the alleged X4 that you can see pictured above.

Which brings us to our question: should BMW create a smaller X6 or would it be wiser to just make the next-gen X3 a bit more sporty in terms of looks and forget the whole idea about its Sport Activity Coupe line-up? Tell us what you think by leaving us a comment.
