Even though we haven’t actually seen an example of Toyota’s all-new mini car on the road (European sales start in January, 2009), we’ve already heard a whole bunch of rumors concerning the iQ including that it will make its way into the States and that it will form the base for the Yaris’ successor. The latest buzz comes from Germany’s Auto Motor & Sport magazine that claims Toyota is readying a two-seater roadster model based on the underpinnings of the iQ. -Continued

The Germans support that Toyota will reveal a concept study of the iQ Roadster at the next Tokyo Motor Show to be held from Friday, October 23 through Sunday, November 8, 2009 November 2009.

The report says that it is still unclear whether or not Toyota will actually build a production version of the car which will most likely be called Spider, but if it does, it will be offered with the same powertrain options as the iQ hatch, including the 1.0-liter and 1.3-liter gasoline engines and a 1.4-liter diesel.
