On the sidelines of the Los Angeles Auto Show, BMW revealed the next generation of the 6-Series Convertible, and now we’ve got a ton of pictures and video to throw down so you can get a better look at all the finer details.
As we’ve already told you, the new 6-Series ragtop will debut with a 400-horsepower 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 (as the 650i), have enough space for two golf bags with the top down, and be available with the Roundel’s 8-speed automatic gearbox or (better yet) a 6-speed manual transmission. The 650i completes the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.0 seconds, with the engine electronics eventually stepping in to cut your pace at 250 km/h (155 mph).
Once the new 650i cabrio goes on sale, we’ll also see the smaller gasoline-fueled 640i packing a turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six with 320HP and 450Nm (332 lb-ft). This engine propels the 640i Convertible from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.7 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
In 640i guise, the car will only use 7.9 liters / 100 km (~30 mpg), while the V8’s fuel economy is a bit less efficient at 10.7 liters / 100 km (~22 mpg).
Later down the line some markets can expect turbo-diesels (a 630d or 640d), as well as a high-output twin-turbo V8 in the M6 convertible.
