Just when you think you’ve seen and heard it all, there’s always someone who will still surprise you, one way or the other. In this case, that special someone is an Ohio man who wanted to pay his cab fare with pot. But that’s only half the story…

According to a report from Fox8 Cleveland, the incident took place in Alliance, Ohio when 27-year old Nicholas Barker took a cab ride from Empire Taxi driver, Steve Rooza. “I picked him up and took him to his home but the doors were locked and he couldn’t get in. He asked me if I would take him to another location, to which I explained to him was a separate price,” said cab driver Rooza.

And here’s where the story gets twisted as the 27-year old man didn’t have enough cash to pay. “He was a few dollars short, so he asked me if he could pay the rest in pot. To which I told him, we are cash only,” said Rooza.

With his weed payment denied, the man then jumped out of the cab and saluted the taxi driver with his middle-finger while shouting “Go ahead and call the police, I’m [blip] Nicholas Baker.”

Rooza replied “Thanks for the name” and did exactly what Mr. Baker proposed…

The City of Alliance Police Department arrested the 27-year old and sentenced him to 30 days in jail and a $250 dollar fine.

“He was charged with a petty theft offense for a $7 dollar cab fare,” commented Detective Matthew Shatzer. “It’s kind of silly, if you ask me. If you are going to steal a service, the last thing you want to give the person you are stealing from is your name.”
