The man you see pictured above lifting the skirt on the 2013 Ford Escape SUV is Jim Farley, FoMoCo’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications who made headlines this past summer after he was quoted in a book saying that he wanted to beat Chevrolet on the head with bat – among other nice things, that is.

The teaser photo is part of the Ford social media team’s efforts to create some additional buzz on the brand-new Escape that will be officially unwrapped at next week’s Los Angeles Auto Show.

To this end, Ford has been working with an Apple iPhone/iPad application called GoldRun through which it promises to offer exclusive teaser photos like the one above as well as videos of the 2013 Escape within the app before they are available anywhere else.

The company explains:

“From Nov 4-17, nationwide, we’ll run a challenge that can be activated anywhere as long as it’s on an iPhone or an iPad (with a camera). Each day, for a two-day window, we’ll have a new puzzle that reveals a small image of the car or has to do with the new Escape.

Every other challenge will reveal a teaser video that shares more information about the new vehicle. Those who complete the final challenge will see a full reveal video and be entered to win a Living Social Escape (vacation) of their choice (up to $3,000).”

If you’re interested, you can get the app through Apple’s iTune store by clicking this link.
