Looking for new ways to market its new “i” sub-brand, BMW has chosen to launch three new digital channels through foursquare, Mashable.com and iAd. The latter is Apple’s mobile advertising platform used by third-party developers to apply ads into the applications downloaded to the users’ iPad, iPhone and iPhone touch mobile devices.

So far, it has been available in the United States. Now Apple and BMW are bringing iAd to Europe with the launch of a 3D digital campaign for the Bavarian carmaker’s i3 and i8 concept cars. The first countries where it will be available are Germany, England and France.

BMW has also established an “i communications” online tool on the foursquare social network for discovering cities. Foursquare provides users with specific online info about locations, and BMW’s www.foursquare.com/BMWi page will hand out tips on subjects such as sustainability, electromobility, design and art.

The third online channel launched by BMW is on Mashable.com. By visiting www.bmw-i.com/Mashable, online users can receive weekly updates about mobility and technology in the “Global Innovation Series” category.
