We live in fast pace society where deadlines and appointments have to be met, and decisions have to be made swiftly. Nevertheless, sometimes it’s better and ultimately, much wiser, to slow it down a notch and take your time in whatever you do.

But the notion of slowing down wasn’t in the agenda of a Gilda Ramos who wanted to fill up her Jeep Compass at a Miami Beach gas station on Tuesday.

Surveillance video captured the woman smashing her Jeep into the pump that quickly erupted into flames.

Gas station employees told Local10 News that Ramos was trying to beat another driver to the pump and ended up losing control of her Jeep.

Ramos told WSNV news that she did not observe the yellow Hummer waiting for the pump and that when she pulled up in front, the driver of the other vehicle started honking at her.

“He started honking at me and I got nervous,” said Ramos. “Instead of hitting the brakes, I hit the accelerator. That is when the accident occurred,” she said.

Luckily, gas station attendant Carol Smith was on hand to push the stop pump button almost immediately thus avoiding the worst. Fortunately, no one was hurt during the incident.

Kudos to Maria S. for the news tip!
