One of the last things you expect to see floating in your home’s swimming pool is an automobile, yet this is precisely what the Diaz family in California woke up to in the early hours of Sunday.

What had happened is that Modesto Cabral, a 40-year old resident of La Puente, drove his silver Lexus GS430 sedan through the Diaz house’s cinderblock wall crashing into their swimming pool.

“We woke up to an awful noise and looked outside, and a car was in the pool,” Janelle Diaz, 16, told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune (follow the link for more pictures), which first reported the story. “We had always joked around about it – that someone was going to end up in the pool – because they’ve hit our wall before,” she added.

According to the news site, the driver of the Lexus saloon was able to escape from the vehicle through the passenger window and suffered only minor injuries from the crash.

Cabal was arrested on the suspicion of drunken driving.
