The Scion “Release Series” saga continues with the launch of the eighth model based on the tC coupe of which only 2,000 units will be built with U.S. sales to start later this month.

The new tC RS 8.0 is offered exclusively in Absolutely Red exterior paint with contrasting gloss black side view mirrors and matching color 18-inch alloy wheels.

The coupe model is styled up with a five-piece body kit thafrom Five Axis that includes front and rear lower aprons, side skirts and a rear spoiler.

Inside, the coupe’s seats are covered in texturized black fabric with red stitching which can also be found on the steering wheel, while all cars come with an individually numbered badge. In addition, models fitted with an automatic transmission get race-inspired steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.

The tC RS 8.0 also sports some Toyota Racing Development (TRD) upgrade parts including lowering springs and an exhaust system that is integrated into the center of the rear lower valence.

Power comes from a 2.5-liter inline-four producing a maximum output of 180HP and a peak torque of 173 lb-ft.

Retail prices for the latest RS model excluding a $730 delivery and processing fee are set at $21,815 for the six-speed manual model and at $22,865 when equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission.
