A Spanish forum has posted what they claim to be the first undisguised photo of the third generation Seat Leon hatchback ahead of a rumored official debut next week and well before the car’s world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in September.

The photo shows the rear end of the car, the sharp styling of which appears to be inspired by the 2010 Seat IBE sports hatch concept.

The compact-sized Leon will ride on the same MQB platform as the new Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf Mk7, with all three models sharing a similar powertrain lineup consisting of the VW Group’s latest turbocharged diesel and petrol engines linked to both manual and dual clutch automatic transmissions.

Whereas the current Leon is offered exclusively as a five-door hatchback with hidden rear door handles, we hear that the third generation model will be available in additional body styles including a sportier looking three-door hatchback and a stylish yet practical station wagon variant.

From this angle, we’re not sure which of the three Leon models is pictured here.

As always, we’ll keep you updated as more news heads our way.
