Of all the hypercars produced by Ferrari in the past three decades, the F40 holds a special place in the heart of fans of the brand and of cars in general for a great number of reasons, one being that it was the last vehicle to be commissioned by the company’s founder Enzo Ferrari before his death.

Only 1,315 examples of the rare, mid-engine and rear-wheel drive Ferrari were built from 1987 until 1992 – and we can only guess how many survive today. One of them, however, is certainly not looking good.

The jury is still out on whether the red F40 that crashed in Vancouver a couple of days ago will make it out alive or if the damages it sustained prove to be lethal.

There’s little if any official details on the accident, though some unverified reports claim that the driver lost control of the car because of the rain adding that no one was hurt from the accident.
