Porsche isn’t telling us what new “compact sports car” it plans to reveal at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show on November 28, but we all know that the Germans are talking about the new generation of the Cayman sports coupe.

And it is the next Cayman that Instagram user “Frod1966” captured on camera parked in what looks like a warehouse of some sort (we don’t know where), wearing nothing but some fake decals on the headlamps and taillights in some twisted effort to hide its true identity from prying eyes. Evidently, the trick didn’t work…

The smaller and more importantly, lower-priced brother of the 991-series 911 is essentially the hardtop iteration of the latest Boxster, with which it shares its platform, interior and of course, flat-six engine range comprising a 265HP 2.7-liter unit for the base model and a 315HP 3.4-liter for the S version.

From these pictures, it appears that the styling of the 2013 Cayman has matured and now looks more like a real coupe than a last minute effort to place a hardtop on the Boxster roadster.

More to come so stay tuned…
