Some might say it is a yet another gimmick and a distraction or one more electronic accessory to worry about, but BMW and German motorsports expert and race driver Tim Schrick, beg to differ claiming that the firm’s M Performance Steering Wheel with a race display is what the doctor ordered for enthusiasts.
The new optional, flat bottom sports wheel is featured in the latest M Performance Catalog and is dressed in what BMW describes as “open pore carbon and Alcantara”.
The real highlight of the M Performance steering wheel, though, is the OLED display that includes gearshift indicators and offers three different, self-explanatory modes named EfficientDynamics, Sport and Race for the driver to choose from.
In the 2012 catalogue, the M Performance steering wheel with race display is offered on the latest 1-Series 5-door and 3-Series sedan models.
