Ah, Yugo, once Yugoslavia’s and then Serbia’s pride and joy in the automotive industry. The Yugo was produced by Zastava Automobile, which succumbed to Fiat’s lure in 2008, with the Italian carmaker now using its Serbian factory in Kragujevac to build the new 500L mini MPV.

However, we’re not here to give you a lesson on the history of Yugo and its parent company Zastava. Instead, we want to show you this Yugo 55e from 1987 that is listed for sale by Polovni Automobili in its home country.

Perhaps you may have noticed that there’s something different, something…eerily German about the three-door hatch.

For whatever reasons (we’ll let you speculate), the owner of the car crafted a BMW 3-Series E30 style grille and lights on the front end of the car. And for this, the seller is asking the reasonable price of €650 or about US$830 at today’s exchange rates.

Kudos to Dušan I. for the find!
