We already knew that GM plans to launch the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra full-size pickups onto the market next year, and today, the carmaker reminded us to mark our calendar for Thursday, December 13, 2012, as it will debut both trucks during a special press conference at the Michigan Motion Pictures Studio in Pontiac, Michigan.

The media introduction will be followed by the pickups’ first public appearance at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in mid-January.

Over the past few months, GM has shown bits and pieces of the new Silverado, including pictures of the truck with and without camouflage, and videos, but not of its sister model, the next Sierra.

The new pickup trucks will continue to use a body-on-frame construction but are expected to undergo a diet shedding several pounds to improve their fuel economy numbers.

Powertrain options are believed to include GM’s new small-block V8 with direct injection and variable valve timing technologies, and possibly the brand’s latest generation of the 3.6-liter V6 that can deliver up to 320hp.

Please note that the pictures of the 2014 Silverado shown here are CarScoop renderings.
