Qoros might be a brand new name in the automotive world having been formed by China’s Chery Automobile Co. and Israeli investment firm Israel Corp. in late 2007, but it sure has picked up quickly on how the business works.

Borrowing a page from much older and established companies in the industry, Qoros’ teaser design sketches of the exterior of its first production model left promises of a dynamically styled saloon, which as you can see, doesn’t really apply to the real life car that we will come to know as the GQ3.

Making its world debut at next year’s Geneva motor show in March, the new Qoros GQ3 goes on sale in China in the second half of 2013, with the first cars to arrive in European dealerships later in the same year.

Qoros says its Ford Focus sedan-sized model has been “engineered to achieve top crash test ratings” adding that it will offer “generous interior space” and a high-level of standard comfort and convenience features including a standard eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The Chinese carmaker is withholding information about the powertrains options, but expect to see a range of four-cylinder petrol engines at launch.

“During the development of the Qoros GQ3, we directed all our efforts towards the needs and expectations of today’s young, aspirational customers,” said Qoros board member, Volker Steinwascher.

“They are very sensitive about design and quality, are highly sophisticated users of technology, and insist on the very best safety standards. As an entirely new brand, we have the advantage of being able to focus our efforts, without compromise or distraction, on meeting the demands of these customers,” he added.
