While Skoda told us that we should expect to see the high-performance RS (or vRS in the United Kingdom) version of the newly introduced 2013 Octavia sometime next year, the automaker itself seems to have uploaded the car on its official configurator by mistake (?).

The images from Skoda’s site are a tad fuzzy, but they still allow us to see what the new Octavia RS will look like on the outside.

Differentiating the RS from its lesser siblings is a subtle cosmetics package with a new, deeper front bumper with what looks to be LED daytime running lights and honeycomb inserts, black mirror caps, side skirts and black door trims, plus a discreet boot lid spoiler and a new rear bumper with red accents and trapezoidal tail pipes.

A new set of alloy wheels and red brake calipers complete the car’s sportier appearance.

Being that the Octavia III shares its technical hardware with the new VW Golf, you won’t be surprised to learn that the RS model will borrow the next GTI’s 2.0-liter turbocharged TSI four-cylinder engine with an output of 217hp (220PS) and peak torque of 350 Nm (258 lb-ft).

We expect Skoda to offer two transmission options on the new 2013 Octavia RS, a six-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG dual clutch auto, both driving the front wheels via a limited slip differential.
