Newly formed automobile brand Qoros has shared fresh information about its presence at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in the beginning of March.

Besides the world premiere of its first production model, the GQ3 compact saloon, Qoros will also display two new concept models named the Cross Hybrid Concept and Estate Concept, both of which are based on the sedan.

“Intelligent modular vehicle platform technology allows us to create new vehicle concepts quickly and efficiently,” commented Vice Chairman of Qoros Auto, Volker Steinwascher. “The Qoros GQ3 is the first of many models that will be based on this platform, and the technology will allow us to develop a complete model family in a very efficient manner.”

The concept studies from Qoros, which was formed by China’s Chery Automobile Co. and Israeli investment firm Israel Corp. back in 2007, are for a crossover hatchback and a station wagon edition for the GQ3 series.

Qoros said the Cross Hybrid Concept sports a petrol-engine driving the front-wheel wheels and an electric motor turning the rear wheels, with an electronic system controlling the two powerplants and allowing for all-wheel drive mode.

The Estate Concept features a regular drivetrain with the company stating that it offers “generous and versatile interior space thanks to a high number of alternative seating and luggage storage options”.

All Qoros models will be manufactured in a new assembly plant in Changshu, China. The GQ3 sedan will go on sale in its home market in the second half of 2013, with the first cars arriving in Europe later in the year. From there on, Qoros said it will enhance the range with new models “at intervals of around six months”.
