On Thursday, General Motors announced that it began shipping the all-new Buick Encore to its U.S. showrooms stating that in the next few weeks, test drives will be available at Buick dealers around the country.

Buick’s foray into the small crossover market shares its platform and body with the Opel Mokka and the Chevrolet Trax, with the latter being offered in Canada, but not in the United States.

“Encore delivers Buick’s signature quiet and well-crafted luxury in a new and unexpected package,” said Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick Marketing. “Having vehicles on trucks and heading to dealers means we’re one step closer to letting customers experience that for themselves.”

The Encore is powered exclusively by a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 138hp (140PS) and 148 lb.-ft. (200Nm) of peak torque, with a six-speed automatic transmission driving the front or all four wheels, returning EPA estimated fuel economy of 25 city/33 highway mpg.

Prices start from $24,950 for the FWD model, with AWD available as a $1,500 option.
