We’ve been telling you for some time now that the Citroën is working on the replacements for its C4-based five-seater Picasso and 7-seater Grand Picasso minivans in the popular compact segment in Europe.

We could in fact see one of the two models making their world premiere as early as the Geneva Auto Salon in March, with the Frankfurt motor show in September also being a possible venue for their presentation.

For the time being, though, our man with the long lens captured the more spacious and family orientated Grand Picasso, which rides on a longer version of the PSA Citroën-Peugeot group’s ‘PF2 platform used on the current C4 and DS4 hatchbacks, testing out in the snow.

The heavy camouflage remains, but it looks like the Grand Picasso’s design will be influenced to a certain degree by the DS4, especially up front.

The roomy minivan will sport conventional rear doors and a squared-off tail to improve the capacity of the boot.

Power options are likely to include 1.6-liter naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrols and 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter turbo diesels.
