Actual Mustang Eleanor from Gone in 60 Seconds Going Under the Hammer

If you like cars and movies, you will have undoubtedly seen the Hollywood blockbuster “Gone in 60 Seconds” from 2000, starring Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie. Sure, it didn’t have the thickest plot in the world, but it was well acted, full of action and nice cars. However, there was one car that was used more or less as an image-booster for the entire movie – the 1967 Ford Mustang “Eleanor”.

Following the release of the film, companies began offering an Eleanor-makeover, provided you already had the ’67 ‘Stang. However, the car in the photos after the jump isn’t one of those cars, and it is the very car Cage drove in the close-ups and beauty shots you see in the movie.

It is set to be auctioned off in the middle of May, and if money is no object, then it is definitely worth taking a look – you’d not only have a car from a poster, you’d have the car from the poster.

Thankfully, Eleanor also drives as quickly as her looks (and the movie) would have you believe, as motivation is provided by a 400hp V8, which sends its power to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual box. She also gets lowered suspension, a custom body kit, 17-inch rims wrapped in Goodyear F1 tires and a fake boost button on the top of the gear knob.

To get the full specifics, go to Mecum, where the car is listed and ready for auction next month. If you don’t have the money for this original film prop, you can always fly to India for a more….affordable double.
