Mini Jokes Around with Dating App that Matches People According to Their Driving Style

Joining the April Fool’s Day parade is Mini with an announcement about a new version of its Connected App that helps owners of their cars find the perfect partner. The app is called Connect Us and works like a dating service – “the world’s speediest and most reliable,” according to Mini.

Mini says that Connect Us is not your usual matchmaker as it analyzes not only personal interests, favorite activities and hobbies, but also driving style. The humorous April 1st press blurb note that it uses the Mini Driving Excitement Analyzer to compare how drivers like to treat their accelerator, steering wheel and brakes “in the search of a compatible co-driver on the journey of love”.

It continues saying that the Connect Us function checks out data collected by the Driving Excitement Analyser to deliver a precise comparison of “drivers’ sprinting prowess, cornering ability and braking strategy”. Only then, if two Mini drivers handle their car similarly, will Connect Us invite them to meet in person.

All Mini drivers need to do after activating the Connect Us app is specify whether their perfect match should be male or female and how far away from their location it should look. Everything else is taken care of by Mini Connected – including a table booking at a restaurant preferred by both drivers.

According to Mini, the Driving Excitement Analyzer function of the Connected App has been available for several weeks as a free download from the Apple App Store, however, as you may have imagined, the Connect Us update can be downloaded one day only: April 1st, 2013.
