Yes, yes, we know that GM’s troubled Australian arm Holden has already given us a taste of the redesigned 2014 Ute along with its Commodore saloon sibling, but how often do you have the opportunity to see a two-door, pickup truck version of a mid-size model doing the rounds on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife track? We thought so.

The 2014 Holden Ute pictured here is the sporty SSV variant, which, while we’ve yet to learn official details about its powertrain setup, is believed to feature the same 415hp 6.2-liter LS3 V8 sourced from the Corvette (C6) as the U.S. market version of the Commodore SSV sedan, the 2014 Chevrolet SS.

GM has pretty much closed the door on the possibility of offering the Ute in the States, but if it’s any comfort to you, the company’s North American boss Mark Reuss has said that the automaker is still weighing its options for the Commodore SportWagon.
