As Suzuki withdraws its automotive products from the two most important markets in North America, the U.S. and Canada, the Japanese company is placing more attention to other regions such as China, where it revealed a new concept car at the Shanghai Auto Show.

The Authentics is a four-door study for the most popular category in China, the C-segment (compact) sedan class with entries like the VW Lavida and Ford Focus.

Suzuki didn’t release any other information on the concept study, but it did confirm that a production model based on the Authentics will be produced and distributed in China by its Chongqing Changan Suzuki Automobile Co. joint venture before the end of next year.

Along with the Authentics Concept, Suzuki also showcased the new China-spec SX4 S-CROSS in Shanghai. The compact crossover will be made by the same joint venture with sales to begin in the country at the end of 2013.
