Few will deny (here’s someone ) that the new F-Type is one of the most interesting Jaguars of recent years, but is it that interesting to warrant a competition for consumers to test drive the roadster model that goes on sale in the U.S. this month at a starting price of $69,000?

Well, if you want our opinion, the answer is likely no, unless we’re talking about an extra special test drive, something we don’t see in Jaguar’s press release on the matter:

“MyTurnToJag is a social media contest where Jaguar enthusiasts and social media fans can submit a story explaining why it is their turn to drive the all-new F-TYPE. Four winners will be selected based on their submission, and Jaguar will curate an amazing drive for each winner in different regions of the country: New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Chicago. The drives will be filmed and shared across Jaguar USA’s social channels.”

You can tell us what you think about Jaguar’s F-Type  initiative after you watch the promo for the “MyTurnToJag” competition after the break.

In unrelated news, Jaguar also announced this week that it has opened a new, 11,120 sq. ft. engineering test facility in Dubai, UAE, to conduct extreme hot weather vehicle research, development, and testing. According to the automaker, the center, which replaces a smaller facility in Dubai, will also test powertrains, chassis and heat and ventilation systems, as well as the off-road and sand driving capability of the Land Rover Terrain Response system.
