It’s been a little over two years since Land Rover applied any noteworthy upgrades to its Discovery, also known as the LR4 in North America, mainly with the fitment of an 8-speed automatic across the range and a raft of technology and comfort system updates, so the British automaker wants to polish up its luxury SUV with a mild facelift to improve sales.

On the prototype we captured testing on the Nürburgring, the SUV was wearing camouflage on the front lights and part of the bumper along with a newly designed set of exterior mirrors – these where the only evident changes over the current model.

The production 2014 Disco will gain new headlamps fixtures adopting a similar set of LED-technology lights as found on the latest Range Rover, possibly a restyled front grille and bumpers, some minor equipment and trim updates to the interior and a fresh selection of wheels.

We also hear that in certain markets, Land Rover will offer its new 3.0-liter supercharged V6, which on the 2014 Range Rover, produces 335-horses.
