New Need For Speed Rivals Trailer Announces More of the Same for the Series [w/Videos]

The new Need for Speed game, called Rivals, promises to be a very pretty face in the world of driving games. It won’t put emphasis on mimicking the depicted cars’ real world handling, focusing instead on making things as entertaining, streamlined and easy to pick up as possible.

Now, we have a new trailer to show us what we can expect of the upcoming action title. One will be able to drive some of the coolest sports cars, supercars and hypercars in the world on a huge map with excellent graphics and a series forte – excellent sound. The latest trailer also adds a new twist to the (somewhat stale) plot – undercover cops, who apparently drive black Ferrari FFs…

Moreover, we get the first glimpse of the Lamborghini Veneno that is as striking as ever. Thankfully, the game doesn’t really put emphasis on actually trying to preserve the cars, and the idea is to drive it like you stole it and ram cops into walls, or the other way round, depending on which side you choose. At least they’re trying to justify the plot in some way, even if it’s hardly flushed-out, as the second (and slightly older) trailer reveals.

For fans of fun, action-packed games with lots of eye candy, this one will be a smash hit, however, with a multitude of titles on their way, or already here, it’s these rivals that publisher EA needs to worry about.
